probabilistic seismic hazard model developed for the Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic Hazard Model

This is a PSHA model for the Dominican Republic with the accompanying documentation that describes the development of a national PSHA model for the Dominican Republic in five sections: 1) seismotectonics; 2) major datasets that were used to build the model; 3) seismic source characterization, including the analyses performed to validate the model components; 4) seismic attenuation properties of Hispaniola and the ground motion model logic tree that was selected for the Dominican Republic; and 5) main seismic hazard results computed from the model using the OpenQuake Engine. The last section discusses how the results compare to those of former models, and thus how this study has changed our understanding of seismic hazard in the Dominican Republic.
The authors would like to thank our local partners in the Dominican Republic for their invaluable contribution to the project, including but not limited to collecting local data, organizing meetings and communicating the results to stakeholders and the general public.

The authors would like in particular to thank the following partners for their support:
- Servicio Geológico Nacional (SGN) de la República Dominicana, especially Yesica Perez, Vladimir Guzmán, Maria Betania Roque Quezada, Edwin García and Santiago Muñoz
- Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), especially Ramon Delanoy
- Instituto Sismológico Universitario
- Oficina Nacional de Evaluación Sísmica y Vulnerabilidad de Infraestructura y Edificaciones (ONESVIE), especially Leonardo Reyes Madera
