
OVERVIEW
The 2026 GEM Conference will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, from 23-25 June 2026, hosted by our partners at the Croatian Centre for Earthquake Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb, Croatia.
At this three-day event, GEM will release the 2026 version of its global seismic hazard and risk models, marking a major milestone in our ongoing mission to advance earthquake risk understanding worldwide. The conference will feature a range of scientific and technical sessions, panel discussions, and community presentations, providing an open forum for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Researchers, practitioners, and partners are invited to contribute their work to the program. For details on session topics, see the Scientific Program, and indicate your interest during registration if you plan to submit a contribution. Abstracts must be submitted through the Call for Abstracts by 31 January 2026.

Below is the overview of this 3 day conference which will take place between 23rd and 25th June 2026. We will be releasing the 2026 version of GEM's global seismic hazard and risk models at this conference, and we will have a number of sessions that are open to contributions from the community. If you would like to showcase your work at the GEM Conference, see the Scientific Program for more details on each session, and let us know during registration that you are interested in providing a contribution (which will need to be submitted through the Call for Abstracts by 31st January 2026).

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The sessions summarised below are those that are open to contributions from the community through the Call for Abstracts. When submitting an abstract, please choose which session it should be considered under.
During abstract submission, you can choose between “Oral” or “Demonstration”. Please note that during the review stage, should your contribution be accepted, the category of your contribution may be changed by the reviewers.
If your contribution is a Demonstration, it will be part of the GEM and Partner Labs, which will be running all day on Thursday and on Friday morning. You might also be selected to give a 5-minute Ignite presentation on Thursday morning.

REGISTRATION
The 2026 GEM Conference: From Faults to Future Scenarios
Registration for the 2026 GEM Conference is now open. Participants are encouraged to register early to secure their place and indicate if they plan to contribute a presentation or poster. Details on session topics are available in the Scientific Program, and abstracts can be submitted through the Call for Abstracts by 31 January 2026.
We will offer a limited number of fee waivers to early-career scientists from lower- or lower-middle-income countries (as classified by the World Bank's Country and Lending Groups). Should you wish to be considered for a fee waiver, please register with this option before 31st December 2025, and we will contact you with the details to apply.

Standard Registration: €350, until 28 February 2026
