About
Sangeeta Singh
Sangeeta holds a PhD in Urban Planning, specializing in eco cities, and completed her M.Sc. in Infrastructure Planning from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, following her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
She is a professor in Urban Planning and serves as the Director at the Centre for Applied Research and Development at the Institute of Engineering, with over 26 years of teaching experience. She previously served as a Member of the National Planning Commission in the Government of Nepal. Additionally, she holds positions as a trustee for Gandaki University and Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology. She is also a member of the research council and academic council of UGC, and serves on the advisory board of GEM Foundation, Pavia, Italy. Moreover, she holds the role of Vice Chairperson at Om Adi Foundation, a social welfare organization, and serves as the secretary of the MBSingh Trust.
During her tenure at IOE, she has spearheaded numerous research projects focusing on ecological urban planning, disaster resilience, equitable urban resilience, sustainable development, and gender mainstreaming. Notably, she led the GCRF research as a city lead for “Tomorrow’s Cities,” collaborating with the University of Edinburgh and other partners. Her research interests primarily revolve around eco cities, sustainable development, disaster risk management, and she has contributed to various publications in these domains. Additionally, she has been a visiting scholar at Kyushu University (Japan), KU Leuven University (Belgium), and Tibet University. Alongside academic research, she has been involved in providing professional services in engineering design and urban planning.
