About
Richard Styron
Richard is a geologist and geophysicist who studies and characterises active faulting. With ~15 years of experience in research and industry, he has done fieldwork in Asia, North, Central and South America, and has mapped faults on satellite and other imagery throughout the world. His main focus at GEM is on characterising fault sources for seismic hazard analysis, as well as writing software to aid in this process. He also works on various projects, especially those with a strong quantitative component, such as statistical evaluation of seismic hazard models, and the incorporation of aftershocks to classical PSHA. He holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Geology.
