Paul Henshaw
Paul is Director of Technology and Development at the GEM Foundation where he leads the Software Development and IT team and is also responsible for contracts and licensing. He received a first-class degree in Computer Science from Kent University, UK in 1993 and has worked in private and public- sector research and development organizations ever since. He has over 30 years of software development experience and has written code for low-power embedded consumer electronics devices, distributed multimedia systems, high-performance computing clusters and global databases for disaster risk reduction.
Paul also has particular expertise leading software development teams, management of international and/or interdisciplinary projects and also has knowledge of intellectual property rights and licensing, particularly in the context of open-source software. Paul serves on the Steering Committee for the GFDRR Risk Data Library Standard (RDLS), an open data standard designed for disaster and climate risk data.
