About
Kirsty Bayliss
Kirsty is a statistical seismologist who has been building models for seismicity for nearly a decade and joined the GEM hazard team as a seismic hazard scientist in September 2022.
Kirsty works primarily on seismic source modelling, drawing upon her experience working with earthquake catalogues and in spatio-temporal earthquake modelling. She also helps to develop and maintain the model builder’s toolkit (mbtk), improving and expanding the tools to help modellers develop source models using the most up to date techniques.
Kirsty holds a BSc in Geophysics (2013) and a PhD (2019) specialising in statistical seismology from the University of Edinburgh.
