Global Vulnerability model

Background

Reliable fragility and vulnerability models are an essential component for seismic risk assessment, and yet recent studies indicate that these are either not readily available or simply not existent for a significant portion of the globe. The Global Vulnerability Database project, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to overcome this lack of coverage by developing a set of fragility models for the most frequent building classes at a global scale.
