Global Active Fault Database
The GEM Global Active Faults (GAF) database is a compilation of fault traces of seismogenic importance covering all of the world. The database will eventually host 15-20,000 fault traces from published sources as well as new mapping. The fault traces also contain a set of metadata or attributes that are of importance to seismic hazard assessment. The database is public and open-source, released with a Creative Commons Attribution license, and may be freely used for commercial and non-commercial purposes as long as the source is listed.
Objectives and Expected Outputs
To build a global active fault database with a common set of strategies, standards and formats, to be placed in the public domain.
