Joint Meeting Hazard EMME-SHARE-EMCA-GEM
A joint meeting focused on hazard issues took place between three GEM Regional Programmes and Principal Investigators of several Global Components, plus members of the TAP Working Group on Hazard Integration
A GEM collective meeting took place from 1-3 February. The meeting was an opportunity for scientists involved in three GEM Regional Programmes (EMCA - Earthquake Model for Central Asia, EMME - Earthquake Model for the Middle East, SHARE - Seismic Hazard Harmonisation in Europe) to discuss their progress together with the Principal Investigators of the Faulted Earth and the Global Geodetic Strain Rate model Global Components, members of the TAP Working Group on Hazard Integration and Assembling, and members of the GEM Model Facility. New collaborations were established between the various components and the latest developments on the OpenQuake software were presented. Discussions took place on methodologies to be used, area source criteria, (the complexity of) logic trees and much more.
Below you find the programme (discussions moments excluded), and links to a number of the presentations.
OPENQUAKE Over a 100 users from at least 42 countries have started to work with GEM's calculation software, from Afghanistan to Costa Rica. Most of them through the web-based OATS service, in order to test the software, but also to do first real hazard (and risk) assessments, for example at country level.
