GEM has released five Requests for Proposals (RfPs) for the Hazard Global Components of GEM with a total budget of €1.9 Million Euro. GEM anticipates that proposals are submitted by international consortia. The deadline for submitting a proposal is 15th July 2009. Click here for the five RfPs and a document explaining the rules.

After a rigorous selection procedure, GEM Governing Board appointed Rui Pinho as Secretary General. Dr Pinho will come officially into office only on May 1st, but is already actively involved in all of GEM's activities. His bio can be found on the Human Resources page.

The members of the interim Governing Board of GEM, each of which representing one founding participant, plus representatives of OECD IASPEI and IAEE, have been named. They will be officially confirmed once the adhesion agreements between the GEM Foundation and the participants are finalised.

On March 10th 2009, GEM became a legal entity, in the form of a Non-Profit Foundation based in Pavia, Italy. Its private founding participants are MunichRe, Zurich Financial Services, AIR, Worldwide Willis and Eucentre, whilst its public founding participants are Belgium, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Switzerland and Turkey.
