Earthquake risk mitigation: online courses in India

The World Bank is working on development of innovative ways of dissemination, training and capacity building. One of their initiatives regarding earthquakes and risk mitigation are online courses.

In the beginning of 2010, The World Bank Institute, together with the National Institute on Disaster Management, is organizing online courses for Indian government officials, design professionals and utility operators about Earthquake Risk Mitigation.

The objective is to develop a wider understanding of earthquakes and to contribute to increased knowledge of earthquake risk reduction practices. This objective is accomplished through sessions describing earthquake hazards and vulnerabilities and presenting an integrated framework for assessing and reducing earthquake risk through implementation of earthquake risk reduction programs.
