Partners

GEM is a cooperative, public-private effort, structured as a partnership among a diverse group of companies, countries, institutions and organisations.

Several of these are participants in GEM, others are collaborators. Participants have a seat in the Governing Board and hence decide together on GEM’s direction and strategy.

GEM distinguishes between three types of participants:

  • Private Participants, private organisations that have agreed to contribute substantially to GEM, play a major role in making the model possible due to their financial contribution and their guidance in ensuring the model meets (private industry) end-user needs;
  • Public Participants contribute to GEM financially and are of great relevance to ensure that GEM outcomes are incorporated in national policies. They comprise countries, or corresponding representative public institutions;
  • Associate Participants are international institutions or organisations that Associate participants are important both for sharing their experience/data with GEM as well as contributing to GEM’s worldwide outreach efforts. Associate Participants are non-voting members on the Governing Board.

GEM features a growing number of collaborators, such as the scientific community that contributes to GEM by participating in the building of the model.

Additional support is being sought. For those interested in being a part of GEM either as a participant or a collaborator, please read the section Partcipate in GEM.
