The GEM Summer Reveal 2013, will gather over 100 partners and participants from all over the world, to discuss, share and exchange the latest GEM outputs and developments in the field of earthquake risk assessment and modelling.
The 2013 summer edition is taking GEM semi-annual meetings to a new level. Participants will witness the release of OpenQuake Engine v1.0, and have the opportunity to meet and discuss the latest GEM developments with collaborators working on global and regional GEM projects, at the 8 science booths set up at the meeting venue.
Participants will also be able to navigate through centuries of seismic history using the Historical and Instrumental Earthquake Catalogues, see the latest on the active fault tool and data from the Active Fault Database project and the Global Strain Rate Model; share updates on GEM Regional Programmes, and be involved in the live demos of cutting-edge tools.
Posters and presentations will highlight the latest developments on the Global Exposure Database, Inventory Data Capture Tools and the Socio-Economic Vulnerability & Resilience, projects of major importance to improved understanding of earthquake disaster management.
GEM’s broad international community can follow the event via Twitter connecting with the hashtag #GEMRVL2013, used across the event to amplify key discussion points and share insights.
Besides sharing latest key findings, the meeting will be an opportunity to celebrate GEM’s community efforts and achievements and confer the 2013 GEM Outstanding Contributions Award. It will also try to set out next scientific frontiers for seismic risk assessment, defining new opportunities for partnerships, and strategies for reaching out to the community.
