Upcoming GEM-related activities:

GHI is organising a workshop at the GEM Secretariat in Pavia to discuss the findings of their Beneficiaries Needs research, with a group of GEM-related experts.

In various thematic sessions discussions will be held in order to understand how findings can (best) be accomodated in GEM activities, to support risk mitigation.

A team of GEM's Model Facility will go to Potsdam Germany to train collaborators of the Earthquake Model for Central Asia (EMCA) programme, coming from the various Central Asian countries. After this 3-day training they will use the OpenQuake software and modelleling tools for development of regional models.

The workshop has 2 components:
A) progress and challenges in conducting hazard and risk assessments for the risk atlas project in particular the issues of exposure modeling and vulnerability modeling
B) Hazard and risk data management practice in the Caribbean

The Saudi Geological Survey will host and organize the seventh Gulf Seismic Forum (GSF2012) from January 22 to 25, 2012 and a number of GEM representatives will be present. See for further information about the event: http://7gsf.info
